This policy explains what personal information Excel Taxi Yeovil collects, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We keep it deliberately short and plain, because you should not need a lawyer to understand what happens to your details when you book a taxi.
Who we are
Excel Taxi Yeovil is a licensed private hire taxi operator based at 54 Roping Road, Yeovil, BA21 4BE. We are the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us on 073 88 33 40 08 or at jenson@exceltaxiyeovil.com.
What we collect
When you use the booking form on our contact page, we collect your name, phone number, pick-up address, destination, date and time, and optionally your email address, passenger count and any notes you add. If you call, text or message us on WhatsApp instead, we collect whatever you tell us in order to arrange your journey.
Our web server also keeps standard access logs, which include your IP address, the pages you requested and the time of the request. These are generated automatically by the hosting platform and are used for security and troubleshooting.
Why we use it, and on what basis
- To arrange and carry out your journey. This is necessary to perform our contract with you.
- To contact you about a booking — to confirm it, quote a fare, or let you know your driver is outside.
- To keep records for accounting, insurance and licensing purposes, which is a legal obligation and our legitimate interest as a licensed operator.
- To keep the website secure — our legitimate interest in preventing abuse.
We do not use your details for marketing, and we do not sell or share your information with anyone for their own marketing.
Who sees it
Your booking details are seen by the person handling bookings and by the driver assigned to your journey. Our website and email are provided by our hosting and email suppliers, who process data on our behalf under contract. We will disclose information if we are required to by law, or to our licensing authority or insurers where they are entitled to it.
How long we keep it
Booking enquiries are kept only as long as we need them to run and account for the journey. Records that we must keep for tax and insurance purposes are retained for six years, which is the standard UK requirement. Server access logs are kept for a short period by our host and then rotated away.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, ask us to delete it where we no longer need it, object to how we are using it, or ask us to restrict its use. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Cookies
This website does not set advertising or tracking cookies, and it does not run third-party analytics. Our fonts are served from our own server rather than a third party, so loading this site does not send your IP address to any outside company. The only external services you can reach from here are ones you choose to use — tapping the WhatsApp button opens WhatsApp, and tapping a phone number opens your dialler.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information — for example if we add online payments or analytics — we will update this page and change the date at the top.
